Why Immunize?
Communicable diseases are becoming rare due to vaccinations. Unless we can completely eliminate the disease, it is important to keep immunizing. Vaccinations protect against the risk of disease infection by causing the immune system to develop antibodies that may help fight the actual disease in the future.
Several vaccinations are available at DHD4, including, but not limited to, Hepatitis A & B, DTaP, Hib, Influenza, HPV, MMR, Tdap, Varicella, and Pneumoccoccal.

DHD4 works with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in reducing vaccine-preventable diseases by providing free or affordable immunizations to all people from birth through adulthood.
Fees
Immunizations do not have to be expensive. DHD4 has special programs for vaccinations. Please refer to the programs below to see qualification criteria
VFC Program
The Vaccines for Children Program provides free immunizations to children age 18 and younger. A child must meet one of the following conditions to qualify for the Vaccine for Children Program:

- Underinsured or has insurance that does not cover vaccinations
- American Indian or Alaskan Native
*An administration fee of $10 for the first shot followed by $7 each for any additioinal shot. If a client is unable to pay, DHD4 will not deny the vaccine.

Insurance
Many health insurance plans cover routine immunizations. DHD4 bills most insurances.
Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)
The Michigan Care Improvement Registry benefits health care organizations, schools, licensed childcare programs, and Michigan’s citizens by consolidating immunization information from multiple providers. This reduces vaccine-preventable diseases, over-vaccination, and allows providers to see up-to-date patient immunization history. Anyone who has received a vaccination after 1998 is registered on MCIR unless an opt-out form was submitted.
Flu Vaccine
Seasonal flu vaccine is available at DHD4 September through June. It is recommended that everyone 6 months and older receive a flu shots. The cost is $30, however most insurance plans cover annual flu shot. Please see the insurance information above for the billing procedures. Walk-in patients may receive the flu shot if a nurse is available, however appointments are preferred.
