What Is An Adult Day Center?

An Adult Day Center is a support program for adults who are no longer able to function independently and their families who care for them. An Adult Day Center is not just a "sitting service" for your loved one but, rather, a structured program of health, recreational and social support services. These services are designed to assist individuals in maintaining their highest possible level of functioning. An Adult Day Center can improve quality of life and prevent premature or unnecessary nursing home placement. An Adult Day Center offers respite opportunities for families. It helps ease tensions families may feel when there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to juggle care giving responsibilities, job, attention to other family members plus a little time for themselves.

Who Needs Adult Day Services?

Adult Day Centers do not cure but can help persons who are: Socially inactive or isolated. Experiencing memory loss or confusion. In need of supervision to assure safety In need of mental and physical stimulation. Stroke victims. Suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders. Individuals with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities. Individuals with closed head injuries. At risk for premature nursing home placement. Experiencing mobility difficulty (wheelchairs and walkers are welcome).

What Is The Caring Place?

At The Caring Place your family member experiences: Something to do. Participants feel productive through activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, gardening, etc. Opportunities to socialize. Participants make new friends and share experiences. A change of scenery. Participants experience new surroundings in a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment. Physical and mental exercise. Games and activities can help maintain physical and mental abilities. Health monitoring. Staff help families understand health care needs and identify conditions that may need medical attention. Free initial assessment.

What Are Some Of The Services The Caring Place Offers?

Assistance with activities of daily living. Blood pressure screening and weight monitoring. Assistance with medication. Nutritious noontime meals, morning and afternoon snacks which meet dietary needs. Assistance with personal hygiene and grooming. Specialized activities.

Activities are designed and adapted to meet individual needs. Special attention is given to age appropriateness and maintaining participant dignity. Rest and relaxation periods are also included in programming each day. The Caring Place provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life for the participant and his or her family.

How Is The Caring Place Staffed?

 

Staff of The Caring Place are specially trained and selected for their experience, patience, and interest in working with program participants. A high staff-to-member ratio is maintained assuring personalized attention and safety of participants.

What Kind Of Hours Does The Caring Place Offer?

 

The Caring Place is open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday thru Friday. Participants can come for one hour or the whole day depending on your needs.

What Are The Fees For The Caring Place?

 

The Caring Place has an affordable daily charge which includes all services, activities, meals and snacks. The responsible party is billed on a monthly basis. Fees are adjusted according to income.
